Linda’s Gourmet Cookies is a Sponsor for “images of HOPE” to Benefit Gordon Parks Elementary School

Linda’s Gourmet Cookies announced they would be participating in Gordon Parks Elementary School’s fourth annual benefit “images of HOPE”, a fundraiser to benefit the students of Gordon Parks Elementary School.

Kansas City, MO August 20, 2009. Linda’s Gourmet Cookies announced they are a sponsor of Gordon Parks Elementary School’s fourth annual benefit, ”images of HOPE”.

“images of HOPE” will take place on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 6:30 pm, and will be held at Gordon Parks Elementary School, 3715 Wyoming, Kansas City, MO. Proceeds from this event will help advance the school’s academic programs.

Gordon Parks Elementary School provides an academically enriched curriculum featuring first-hand experiences, active learning, art, music and physical education for children living in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri. This K – 5 school helps children, who would otherwise be at risk, to develop their potential in a safe, loving and challenging environment.

Linda’s Gourmet Cookies is a producer of unique gourmet cookies for gifts for all occasions for friends, family, and businesses. Their gift services include:
· handwritten notes sent with gifts both nationwide and internationally,

Linda’s Gourmet Cookies is Participating in “Night School” An Evening Under The Stars to Benefit the students of Gordon Parks Elementary School

Kansas City, MO August 25, 2008. Linda’s Gourmet Cookies announced they will be participating in Gordon Parks Elementary School’s third annual benefit, ”Night School” An Evening Under The Stars.

“Night School” will take place on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 6:30 pm, and will be held at Gordon Parks Elementary School, 3715 Wyoming, Kansas City, MO. This event marks the tenth anniversary of the school and proceeds from the benefit will help advance the school’s academic programs.

Benefit for Gordon Parks Elementary School

Linda’s Gourmet Cookies is Supporting “A Night at the Museum” a Benefit for Gordon Parks Elementary School

Kansas City, MO August 27, 2007. Linda’s Gourmet Cookies announced they would be supporting the Gordon Parks Elementary School’s second annual benefit “A Night at the Museum”.

“A Night at the Museum” will take place on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 6:30 pm, and will be held at the WWI Museum and Liberty Memorial 100 W 26th Kansas City, MO. Activities will feature a tour of the museum with young docents from Gordon Parks Elementary School, special performances after dark - weather permitting, and dinner. Proceeds from the benefit will help support the schools academic programs.

More Alaska

We did and saw many interesting thing on our Alaskan cruise. We saw killer whales, humpback whales, sharks, sea lions, and bald eagles. We visited nearly 20 glaciers. I learned more about glaciers than I thought I ever would. I learned how they are formed, why they are blue, why their runoff is milky white and that some of them are advancing and some are retreating. (At some glaciers they had their highest snowfall on record last winter.)

We also met a lot of nice people. We met couples from New Zealand, Liverpool in the U K, and of course from Phoenix, Denver, Florida, California, Kansas, and many other spots in the U S.

I hadn’t been on a cruise in several years and was surprised at how the cruise companies operate. What I remembered from before was that you pay for the cruise, then everything is provided and you sit back and enjoy. Well, on this cruise it was similar except as soon as we got on the ship they started trying to sell us things. The first thing to purchase was a welcome drink. Then there was perfume, jewelry, furs, “better” food, souvenirs, health products and on and on. It became very annoying and several of the people we met on board felt the same way. Additionally, the cruise companies have set up tourist oriented shops in the cities they stop at and direct you to those spots when you get off. We always tried to find the establishments that were owned and operated by local people. The locals were always friendly, interesting and I highly recommend their shops.
